New York Marriott Downtown - We have a limited number of rooms available for our guests at a discounted rate of $239.00 a night.
Call 1-800-228-9290 or 212-385-4900 and say you would like to reserve a room with the Prator/Hollinghurst wedding discount.
This is a gorgeous hotel with fantastic views of New York City! Located in the heart of the financial district, it is blocks away from the site of the World Trade Towers, South Street Seaport and within a 10 minute walk to the New York Academy of Art (Ceremony & Reception site). You will need to book your room by February 19th, 2009 to insure your discounted rate.

* For those who are a Marriott Points member, you could use points to purchase your room! If you are opting to do so, this is a Category 6 hotel which means that one night requires 35,000 points, two nights require 50,000 points and three nights require 73,000 points. Hilton Garden Inn Tribeca - This is a brand spankin' new hotel, which for you should mean perfectly clean rooms! It is slated to open in the Fall of 2008 (which is now, basically), so I haven't seen it yet, but it is only about four blocks from the New York Academy of Art (Ceremony & Reception site). The web site won't let me check the rates yet, but it does say that it is a Category 5 hotel and requires 35,000 Hilton Honors points per night if you are opting to pay that way. Holiday Inn Downtown - It is within a short walking distance to the New York Academy of Art (Ceremony & Reception site), about five or six blocks. I've never been in it, although it seems nice enough. Hotels.com reviewers give it a 4.1 out of 5 rating ( which is good for that site). I would say it is in Chinatown, but it's in that area where people could label it Tribeca/SoHo or Chinatown, depending on their purpose. Their website posts a starting room rate of $199.00 a night. Hilton Millenium Hotel - It is within walking distance to the New York Academy of Art (Ceremony & Reception site). Again, I have never been to it, but it's a Hilton, so I guess by the name you might/should know what to expect. The website boasts a starting rate of $269 a night for our wedding weekend (as of August, when I checked last). It is pretty much right at Ground Zero, so i'm not sure how construction noise may factor in to your sleep, and the website said that at certain times the street may be closed to vehicles(taxis) which basically means they would drop you at the corner rather than directly in front of the hotel. To me, that seems like you may be able to argue down a cheaper rate? Also, if you are a Hilton Honors member, this might be a good choice to use points to pay for your room. And if you feel like having an all out fancy-schmancy New York weekend, here are other hotels within walking distance to the Ceremony & Reception site:

The Tribeca Grand Hotel - This is a very luxurious hotel! It is located practically across the street from New York Academy of Art (Ceremony & Reception site). Rooms for our dates, when I last checked, started at $360.00. The interior lobby is quite stellar - it's ceiling rises to the full height of the building, where all the rooms' doors face the center of the hotel. At the lobby floor, is a bar and restaurant. Really cool place. Click here for a direct link to their website.

Duane Street Hotel - On the pricer side, but within a short, four block walk to New York Academy of Art (Ceremony & Reception site). Rooms are around $300.00. This hotel was named one of Conde Naste Traveler's hottest new hotels. Click here for a direct link to their website.

Other options....

Bed and Breakfasts - www.inns.com - Be sure to map the location before reserving, and check their minimum night stays.

Marriott Brooklyn Bridge - (located in Brooklyn, NY) Unfortunately, this Marriott does not offer discounts. But, it is just yet another option with standard rooms starting at $269.00. This is a great hotel that my parents have stayed at before and it is only about a $7.00 cab ride to New York Academy of Art (Ceremony & Reception site). It is also extremely close to the 2/3/4/5 and C lines of the NY Subway system. Click here for a direct link to their website.

The New York Academy of Art (Ceremony & Reception site) is located in Tribeca, in Lower Manhattan. If convenience is what you are looking for, I wouldn't stay anywhere above 14th St.
